Certification practice tests, free and fact-checked

Facts checked against the exam owners' own pagesLast checked Nov 4, 2026

First Attempt covers professional certification exams one field at a time. For each exam you get a free practice test where each answer choice carries its own note, a study guide split into the blueprint's areas, and the exam's numbers (questions, time, pass mark, fees) traced to the organization that owns the exam, with the day we checked them.

The pass marks above sit on different scales. CEN counts correct answers among its 150 scored questions. The other four report scaled scores, each on its own range: NASM-CPT 0–100, ACE CPT 200–800, CMSRN 0–120 and Security+ 100–900. The fee column is the list price of the exam alone; member rates, bundles and retakes are on each exam's registration page.

How we check what you read

The tables draw only on what each exam owner publishes: handbooks, outlines, price lists. Every row names its document and the day we checked it. When an owner announces a change, the page says so: Security+, for one, is moving from SY0-701 to SY0-801, and its exam facts page gives the dates and which edition a figure belongs to.

Practice questions are answered blind before anyone looks at the key, every wrong option is tested for a second defensible answer, and each option carries its own explanation. The rules are in the editorial policy; the question checks, step by step, are in how we review questions.

Questions about First Attempt

Are these the exam owners' own practice questions?

No. None of the organizations that own these exams write, review or endorse anything here. Where an owner publishes free sample items, those are the best guide to the real question style.

Is there a sign-up or a paywall?

Neither. Scoring happens inside the page, and no answer you click is transmitted; privacy lists what the site does record.

How current are the fees and exam rules?

Each table carries the day its numbers were checked against the owner's pages. Rows flagged as changing often, such as member pricing and bundles, deserve a second look on the owner's site before you pay.
